Need a little free help in getting those tax returns prepared?
West Virginians earning $49,000 or less can get them done by the State Law Library, in conjunction with the Central West Virginia Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition.
One-on-one tax preparation assistance and e-filing of documents are being offered by certified volunteer staff members.
Required appointments can be scheduled by calling the Law Library at 304-558-2607 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to noon Friday and Saturday. The appointments are available through April 13.
This program is limited to simple tax returns. Anyone needing help with more complicated forms, such as Schedule C (profit and loss from business), Schedule D (capital gains and losses), Form 2106 (employee business expenses); and Form 3903 (moving), will be referred to another agency.
Taxpayers using Form 2016 (employee business expense) and Form 3903 (moving) will be referred to another agency.
The library is on the fourth floor of the Capitol’s east wing. Metered parking is available near the Culture Center off the Greenbrier Street entrance to the Capitol Complex.
