Greenbrier County man killed in farm accident

An apparent work-related farm accident has claimed the life of a Smoot man.

According to Greenbrier County Sheriff Jan Cahill, authorities were called to the scene of the accident on a farm north of Lewisburg off Benedict Lane at around 5:20 p.m. Sunday.

Officers responding found the body of Kenneth Keesee, 67, pinned between the bed and frame of the dump truck he owned and operated, Cahill said, noting, “Someone connected with the farm found him. It appeared he had been there for some time.”

Keesee was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cahill said the Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, with an eye toward mechanical failure as the possible cause of the accident.
