BECKLEY — Volunteers are still needed for the West Virginia Make It Shine cleanup campaign, which will be Friday starting at 2 p.m.

Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce CEO and President Ellen Taylor said gloves, sticks and trash bags will be provided for volunteers.

“It doesn’t have to be a whole afternoon,” Taylor said. “Even if you have an hour, give an hour.”

Volunteers are being asked to meet at the Harper Road Kroger parking lot at 2 p.m.

“We’ll pick up our supplies, divide and conquer,” Taylor said. “Every little bit helps.”

She said cleanup efforts will be concentrated on Harper Road. The event will be canceled if there is rain, although the forecast calls for sunny skies and highs of 68 degrees Saturday.

“A lot of people see that area, and we want it to leave a good first impression,” Taylor said.
