CHARLESTON — State Police took a juvenile into custody Tuesday evening on charges connected to a bomb threat at Western Greenbrier Middle School, according to Sgt. D.A. Evans.

The suspect, whom Evans declined to identify due to the individual’s age, is a student at the school and is the alleged author of a note containing the bomb threat that was reportedly found in a WGMS classroom late Tuesday morning. Nearly 330 students were evacuated from the school in the wake of the threat, and law enforcement was immediately called to the scene. Greenbrier County Sheriff’s deputies assisted the State Police in the investigation, which also involved the State Police’s bomb squad and a bomb-sniffing dog.

“There was no explosive material found,” Evans confirmed, saying the investigation has now concluded.

The unidentified juvenile suspect has been charged with the felony of making false reports concerning bombs or other explosives, Evans said.
