Two people are in jail, State Police said, after a man was stabbed five times in the Beckley Ruby Tuesday parking lot.
Kenneth Robert Wiggins, 24, of Beckley, is charged with unlawful assault, according to a release from the State Police’s Beckley detachment. Heather Lynn DeMoss, 27, also of Beckley, is charged with providing false information to a police officer and being an accessory.
Both suspects were in Southern Regional Jail Monday.
Wiggins was being held in lieu of $10,000 bond, and DeMoss, $6,000.
The incident at the Harper Road Ruby Tuesday was reported at 7:03 p.m. Sunday.
Senior Trooper H.D. Stone, the investigating officer, and Senior Trooper M.S. Horton were sent to the scene, according to the release.
The troopers were told Sean Eagle, 25, of Beckley, was stabbed five times in the back after a physical altercation in the parking lot, the release stated. Eagle was in stable condition at Raleigh General Hospital Monday.
Wiggins was identified as a suspect, the release stated.
Stone and Horton went to Willbrian Apartments trying to find Wiggins. They were unsuccessful, but they did locate DeMoss, Wiggins’ girlfriend.
The officers were told Wiggins was dropped off at Beckley West Apartments, the release stated.
Senior Trooper J.L. Howell and Trooper 1st Class C.H. Mitchell went to Beckley West and found Wiggins inside an apartment.
Wiggins confessed to stabbing Eagle, and also told troopers he had thrown the knife he used out of a vehicle’s window, the release stated.
That knife was later found on the side of Dry Hill Road.
No further information was available Monday.
