Beckley Police believe they have identified two male suspects involved in a robbery at Donut Connection on Robert C. Byrd Drive just before 11 p.m. Friday.
A West Virginia State Police K-9 unit led officers to the residence of the suspects, reported Beckley Police Cpl. R.J. Gauldin.
Gauldin said the suspects entered through the side door of the open business. Once inside, they went for the security system, and then to the cash register. The cashier refused to give them the security code to gain access to the cash register. At that point, they fled the scene through the side door where they entered.
No weapons were brandished during the incident, but the security camera system was stolen, according to police.
Detective David Allard is leading the investigation.
“We definitely have some very promising leads that Detective Allard will follow up on,” Gauldin said. “Hopefully we’ll make an arrest soon.”
