Official: Barn fire suspicious
Authorities say a barn fire that occurred in Ghent Wednesday night looks suspicious.
The incident occurred around 6:54 p.m. on Abbeville Court in Ghent. Capt. Rick Morrison of the Ghent Volunteer Fire Department said the fire originated in the middle of the second floor of the barn.
“The fire shouldn’t have started there, so it’s very suspicious,” he said. “This will be under investigation.”
Morrison said the barn was an old wood structure and the damage was minimal.
The scene was cleared by 7:54 p.m. and no injuries were reported.
