Pumpkin-decorating contest planned

For The Register-Herald

RONCEVERTE — The Ronceverte Lions Club is sponsoring a pumpkin-decorating contest from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 21 at the organization’s recreation center.

Pumpkins and decorating supplies will be provided on site, with no outside materials allowed. An entry fee of $7 for each pumpkin decorated will be collected.

The concession stand will be open during this event.

Children must be accompanied by an adult, and “team” decorating is encouraged.

Decorated pumpkins will be displayed Monday through Friday at various Ronceverte businesses, as well as at the Clifford Armory and Recreation Center during the Halloween Bash, which is set for Oct. 27. Pumpkins will be released to their designers following the announcement of winners and presentation of prizes at the Halloween Bash.

Pumpkins will be judged in the following categories: cutest, scariest, funniest, “halloweeniest,” and best depictions of sports/school and career. A best of show award will be made, and the people’s choice award will go to the entry that collects the most votes by 5 p.m. Oct. 26. People’s choice votes are a penny each.
