A federal grand jury Tuesday indicted an Italian national for re-entry of an illegal alien, announced United States Attorney Booth Goodwin.
Francesco Gulino, also known as “Frank Gulino,” 43, of Italy, was previously convicted in May 2009 in the Court of Common Pleas, County, Ohio, of attempted felonious assault. Gulino was later deported from the U.S. in April 2011.
On April 20, 2013, Gulino was arrested by police in Raleigh County for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Gulino had not obtained approval of the Secretary of Homeland Security to reapply for admission to the U.S.
Gulino faces up to 20 years in prison if he is convicted.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted the investigation and Assistant U.S. Attorney Erik S. Goes is handling the prosecution. This case is being prosecuted as part of an effort led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia to combat the illicit sale and misuse of prescription drugs.
