A former police officer was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree robbery for his part in a Monday night home invasion, according to Smithers Police Department.
Donald Wills, 43, of Smithers, and another man who is yet to be identified, robbed an apartment on Michigan Avenue in Smithers Monday around 9:30 p.m., according to Chief of Police Gerald Proctor.
The two men were armed with guns and allegedly identified themselves as police officers to the residents during the robbery.
Proctor said the investigation has been turned over to the West Virginia State Police.
Proctor confirmed that Wills was arrested earlier this summer for drug charges while working at the Glasgow Police Department in Kanawha County.
