The annual Fall Fling is set for this weekend with the activities slated Friday and Saturday at the White Sulphur Springs Civic Center, the former white Sulphur High School-Junior High School.
The stately brick high school still is standing in the heart of the resort village and is marking the 100th anniversary of its founding.
The traditional welcoming ceremony is set for 7 p.m. Friday in the gymnasium and will be followed by a social hour.
Also on tap for during Fall Fling is the annual ham and bean dinner Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in Fellowship Hall at Emmanuel United Methodist Church. The church is just a stone’s throw from the Civic Center.
Donations will be accepted for the dinner.
Also a tradition is the pancake breakfast which will be staged in the Civic Center cafeteria from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. The breakfast will offer both regular and buckwheat cakes and is a fundraiser for the Civic Center, a non-profit organization comprised of volunteers.
Tickets for the Pancake Breakfast can be purchased at the door.
A second social hour will take place in the gymnasium on Saturday evening while there will be several school reunions throughout the weekend.
The Fall Fling is an open event and is a “thank you” to the alumni and members of the community for their support of the White Sulphur Springs Civic Center.
