Wyoming deputies discover $575,000 in cash at house during drug bust

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department and the Southern Violent Crime and Drug Task Force discovered more than half a million dollars in a safe confiscated last week during the execution of a search warrant, according to Sheriff Randall Aliff.

Delbert Lester of McGraws was arrested May 9 after the search uncovered the safe, $10,000 in cash and more than 70 weapons. However, no one at the residence could remember the combination to the safe, Aliff said.

After finally getting the safe open, officers discovered more than $570,000 in cash — 38 stacks of $15,000 each — and 30 additional firearms.

The investigation is continuing, Aliff said.
