Wyoming County woman arrested over stabbing

A Wyoming County woman was arrested Thursday after she allegedly stabbed another woman during a fight over a cell phone.

Wyoming Sheriff Randall Aliff said that Misty Dawn Stanley, aka Misty Barefoot, 27, and Tonya Morgan, 30, were in an alleyway in Brenton when they began to argue over a cellular telephone.

Stanley went to her car, got a knife, and went back and stabbed Morgan once in the stomach and once in the wrist, Aliff said.

Two male motorists who were passing by stepped in to break up the fight and  called 911, he added.

There were witnesses to the fight, which occurred around 5:30 p.m., stated Aliff.

Aliff added that it’s likely the women knew each other prior to the altercation.

Lt. James White charged Stanley with malicious wounding, and she was at Southern Regional Jail Friday.

Morgan was transported to Raleigh General Hospital. Her condition had not been released Friday.
