Being a Valentine has never been easier than it is this season at Tamarack.
According to events director Chris McLaughlin, Tamarack offers some sweet experiences for Valentine’s Day,
This weekend, textile artist Elaine Bliss is scheduled to host a three-day Make-N-Take workshop to create handmade Valentine cards. The workshop runs Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and takes about 30 to 60 minutes with all materials provided for $10 per person. Budding artists of all ages are welcome.
For a sweet and inexpensive musical Valentine experience, Tamarack’s Sunday @ Two live performances feature the best of the Mountain State. This weekend, Tamarack welcomes The New Gospel Singaleers, who kick of Black History Month. Feb. 14’s Sunday @ Two will feature actor Ed Trotta in “Two Miles A Penny,” his original depiction of President Abraham Lincoln. Lady D returns on Feb. 21, and Nat Reese will be featured Feb. 28.
If you get engaged for Valentine’s Day, consider attending the 11th annual Bridal, Prom and Special Occasions Show at Tamarack on Feb. 27 from noon until 4 p.m. Booths will be set up displaying a wide variety of products and services.
The event includes a fashion show, bridal luncheon and door prizes. The show itself is free to the public and is sponsored by Belk, Harvey’s, Flowers by Nancy, Beckley Newspapers and Tamarack.
If you can delay your Valentine treat, dinner theater tickets are on sale now for this season. “Deathtrap” will be performed on March 5-6, and “Crimes of the Heart” on April 9-10. Tickets are $40 per person and include a full dinner served in the Tamarack Conference Center prior to the theater performances.
Tamarack is also a gift-giving one-stop-shop for traditional Valentine’s Day with bath and body products, candles, wine, jewelry in all price ranges, glassware, ladies’ apparel and chocolates, all made in West Virginia.
Tamarack is open daily through February from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. in the food court and retail area with regular hours in the conference center.
Regular hours resume March 1.

Cities to receive housing grants
