Ronceverte Christmas ornament features Edgarton

— Ronceverte Main Street’s 1882 Society is now selling its fifth annual Christmas ornament, which features the Edgarton building.

Previous ornaments depicted other Ronceverte landmarks, such as the C&O Depot, the C&O coaling tower and Martin & Jones Hardware Store.

Edgarton was built by Thomas Edgar in 1810 and now serves as the Edgarton Inn Bed & Breakfast.

“We hope that current residents, previous residents and folks far and wide will help us celebrate our town, along with the current developments under way, by purchasing their own piece of Ronceverte history,” said Sally Baker, president of the Ronceverte Development Corporation (RDC) and chair of the Main Street Economic Restructuring Committee.

According to Lisa L. Circle, the Main Street program manager for the RDC, all proceeds from the sale of the 1882 Society’s annual Christmas ornaments go toward RDC operational and program expenses.  Those include the ongoing revitalization of the downtown area and promotion of the city’s businesses, all of which tie into the goal of encouraging economic development in Ronceverte.

The Edgarton ornament and others in the series are available for $15 each at the Ronceverte Feed Store, Wiseman’s Floral, Morgan & Morgan Insurance, Tri-County Produce, Factory Tire, Martin & Jones Hardware Store, First National Bank and Greenbrier Cut Flowers.

The current ornament may also be ordered from the Ronceverte Development Corporation, 307 Frankford Road, Ronceverte, WV 24970. Mail orders must include the name of the recipient, shipping address, phone number, quantity of ornaments requested and a check, made payable to the 1882 Society, in the appropriate amount ($15 for each ornament, plus a $5 shipping and handling charge for each delivery address).
