Fayette County — Two accidents Monday and Tuesday were caused by a young, white pony on the loose along U.S. 19 in the Fayetteville area, officials said. The pony has been spotted a few times over the past few days in the Nickelville and Thousand Oaks areas.

The first accident occurred Monday when a vehicle crashed, reportedly due to a pony on the road. There were no known injuries.

The second accident occurred Tuesday when two vehicles collided on U.S. 19 at the Hinkle Road intersection. Officials said one vehicle reportedly swerved to miss the animal and made contact with the other one. One person was transported to Plateau Medical Center.

The pony was tranquilized and taken to the animal shelter Tuesday, authorities said.
