Aurora Celtic, a three-member old-time Irish band, brought some energetic tunes to the crowd during this week’s Sunday@Two at Tamarack.
Hailing from Aurora in Preston County, the band is comprised of Alice Fleischman, Mike Broderick and Andrew Nelson.
The band whisked the audience away from the southern West Virginia mountains and into the green hills of Scotland and Ireland with both traditional Irish songs and some originals.
They used guitars, fiddles, Irish flutes, pennywhistles, mandolins and tenor banjos to bring their melodies to life.
While some of their songs were soothing and relaxing, others could make you feel like doing an Irish jig.
Before they played one of their original tunes, though, they warned: “Don’t try and dance to this one,” as it was very fast-paced.
They have played throughout the mid-Atlantic states and even in Europe. Their music has also been featured twice on National Public Radio’s “Thistle and Shamrock” music program.

Next week, The Boatmen will visit Tamarack inside Hulett C. Smith Theatre for Sunday@Two. Admission is free.
