Rock slide closes part of W.Va. 20 Saturday
A rock slide in Summers County shut down W.Va. 20 for hours Saturday, the Summers County Emergency Operations Center confirmed.
The slide, between Bluestone Dam and Lilly Bridge, was reported at 8:39 a.m. and the road was shut down at 9:51 a.m., the 911 operator reported.
The road was still closed at 8 p.m. Saturday evening, and the 911 call center expected it would not be open until sometime today.
One of the excavators used to clear the debris became stuck in the mudslide, further prolonging the road closure.
Division of Highways was called to manage the slide, and cars were being rerouted via Leatherwood and Bluestone roads.
Four injured duringwreck along I-64
The Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with four injuries Saturday near the Alta Exit of Interstate 64, the Greenbrier County Emergency Operations Center reported.
A Humvee involved in the single-vehicle accident flipped onto its top around 1:35 p.m. Saturday, dispatch said.
Four individuals were transported to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Vehicle rolls over along U.S. 19 Saturday evening
One person was injured and transported to an area hospital around 5 p.m. Saturday after a vehicle rollover on Sun Mine Road off U.S. 19 in Fayette County, reported the Fayette County Emergency Operations Center.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Mount Hope Fire Department, Jan-Care Ambulance Services and General Ambulance responded to the scene.
