Beckley delicatessen supports WRC for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

— In support of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, The Amish Barn is offering a special deal for those who make a donation to the Women’s Resource Center.

When you bring in a new pair of women’s pajamas or a cozy sweat suit for the Women’s Resource Center, The Amish Barn is offering a free grilled cheese combo to thank you for your donation.

Manager Leigh Korn said, “This cause is near and dear to everybody’s hearts.”

She explained that representatives from the Women’s Resource Center spoke at her church, specifically about domestic violence and rape victims.

Korn said the Women’s Resource Center offers sweat suits and pajamas to victims who have to give their clothing to police for evidence.

“That broke our hearts,” Korn said. “That’s when you need all the clothing you can get.”

She said she spoke with WRC public relations coordinator, Dee Sizemore, and she told Korn their closet was looking empty, so The Amish Barn decided to help out.

“We wanted to support the cause.”

You, too, can support the cause by making a donation of pajamas or a sweat suit at The Amish Barn, 2040 Robert C Byrd Drive, MacArthur.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
