More snow for now, a slow melt to follow

— The National Weather Service in Charleston is predicting another 4 to 8 inches of snowfall over the weekend.

Meteorologist Tim Axford said Friday night temperatures were in the single digits, with a wind chill around zero.

Snow should start falling midday today with the heaviest accumulations coming around 6 or 7 p.m., Axford said.

Both today and Sunday will only be slightly warmer than Friday, with temperatures around 30 degrees.

Axford said Super Bowl Sunday should only see a few snow flurries, adding a maximum of another inch to the accumulation total.

For the beginning of the week, temperatures will be in the mid-30s, and the snow will begin slowly melting.

Axford said although some people may be eager for the snow to melt, large accumulations can cause flooding if the snow melts rapidly.
