AMFM supports BARH renovation project

American Medical Facilities Management (AMFM) Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers presented a $5,000 check to Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital Friday to aid with its $7 million renovation project.

The AMFM has 11 locations across the state, including facilities in Fayette, Summers, Wyoming, Mercer and McDowell counties, and it maintains partnerships with many local hospitals.

Ted Weigel, West Virginia Marketing and Service Excellence manager for BARH, said the partnership means working together for the well being and welfare of the patients.

“By working with a long-term care facility, it prevents re-admissions to the hospital,” Weigel said.

AMFM Community Relations Manager Brandon Totten explained that a golf tournament is held each year, which raises between $30,000 and $40,000.

That money is then distributed to the 11 nursing home facilities around the state and they pick organizations in their community that they would like to help out.

After hearing about BARH’s renovation project, Sheila Steward, AMFM provider relations specialist, said all the southern facilities wanted to take part.

Fayette, Summers, Wyoming, Mercer and McDowell county locations chipped in to make the $5,000 donation possible.

The BARH renovation will include a new outside facade, HVAC upgrades, and a fourth-floor renovation that will create an additional 19 private rooms with full baths.
