More than 300 turn out for early Fayette levy voting

FAYETTEVILLE — Early voting for the Fayette County Schools excess levy continues on Saturday despite some snowy conditions in the county.

A total of 375 votes have been cast so far.

“It hasn’t been any earth-shattering numbers with the weather we’ve been dealing with, but you expect that in a late January and early February election,” said Fayette County Clerk Kelvin Holliday.

The first day of voting last Saturday yielded 100 votes.

Early voting continues today and then Monday through Wednesday of next week. Saturday hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Early voting can be done at any of three locations, regardless of where voters reside: the Memorial Building in Fayetteville, the Danese Community Building, and Montgomery City Hall.

Then on Election Day, Feb. 9, voters can go to the location in their home district from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Valley residents go to Montgomery; Plateau residents go to Fayetteville; and New Haven residents go to Danese.

Training classes for poll officials on Friday night were canceled and rescheduled for Monday.

“Other than that, everything is proceeding normally,” said Holliday.
