Police: Delivery man assaulted and robbed

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is searching for two suspects in connection with an armed robbery early Saturday morning near Mount Hope.

Sheriff Steve Kessler reported that two suspects allegedly robbed a Domino’s Pizza (Beckley) employee on W.Va. 16 near the Fayette and Raleigh county line.

Police said the delivery driver arrived at the parking lot of the old County Line Bar to deliver a food order placed over the phone. One man reportedly pointed a handgun at the delivery driver and ordered him to lie down on the ground.

The two suspects allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of money before physically assaulting the driver and taking his cell phone to prevent him from calling for help, said Kessler.

Police said the two suspects ran from the scene heading toward Bradley on W.Va. 16.

The first suspect is described as a white male between 35 and 40 years old. He is about 5 feet 6 inches and weighs around 120 pounds, police said.

The first suspect was wearing a green ball cap, an olive drab military-stye jacket and similar colored pants.

Police described the second suspect as a white male between 30 and 35 years old. He is about 5 feet 8 inches and weighs about 140 pounds.

The second suspect was described as wearing a dark brown or green jacket with a hood and possibly a pair of jeans. The second suspect was clean-shaven and appeared to have a red scar on his neck, police added.

This incident remains under investigation by Detective G.A. Chapman of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Chapman was assisted at the scene by the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone with information about this armed robbery is asked to contact the sheriff’s office, 304-574-3590, or Crime Stoppers, 304-255-7867.
