RONCEVERTE — With Ronceverte’s municipal election only two months away, the candidate filing period closed Tuesday. The mayor’s post and two council seats are on the ballot this year, and each race attracted multiple candidates.

Running for re-election, Mayor Gail White will face two challengers — political newcomer David Withrow and longtime Council member David Smith, who is in the middle of a four-year term with the city’s governing body.

Council members Shawn Honaker and Barbara Morgan are also seeking re-election. Newcomers Benjamin Rosin and Bonnie Isaacs round out the city council candidate field.

Ronceverte’s elections are held every two years, with roughly half of council and either the mayor or recorder on the biennial ballot. All elected officials serve four-year terms.

Election day in the River City is June 4.
