Donations begin arriving in support of Mac’s Toy Fund

— Mac’s Toy Fund has begun gearing up for its 2013 toy distribution to be held Dec. 21. Donations of used toys and bicycles are the backbone of the fund, but monetary donations are needed as well.

Mac’s is self-supporting and all money donated each year is used to pay for that year’s party. All of the work is performed by volunteers.

More than 4,100 children will be invited to this year’s giveaway.

Mac’s is also seeking donations of gently used toys, bicycles and coats. Toys can be dropped off at BJW Printing on Robert C. Byrd in Beckley. Bikes will be taken in at Beckley Fire Station No. 3 on Eisenhower Drive and behind the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center.

Shady Spring High School cheerleaders are conducting the coat drive again this year. Drop-off locations are Chateau Interiors Indie, Sparrow Boutique in Beckley, Shady Spring Elementary, Middle and High schools. Coats can also be dropped off at Ghent Elementary, Daniels Elementary, Walgreen’s, Kroger and CVS in Beaver, Family Coin Laundry and Big Lots in Beckley, Chick-fil-A at The Galleria, Raleigh General Hospital Cafeteria, Kroger in Beckley Crossing and on Harper Road, Sam’s Club, The Register-Herald, and Jump Zone at Beckley Plaza.

Monetary donations have already begun to arrive. The first was received from:

- Judy and Buzz Ragland of Daniels, $100

Total to date: $100
