Summers man charged with intentional hit and run

A Summers County man has been charged in connection with intentional hit and run about 7 p.m. Thursday near Brenton, according to Wyoming County Sheriff Randall Aliff.

Roger Hurley, 32, of Jumping Branch, is charged with malicious wounding and driving revoked/third offense, Aliff said.

Additionally, the vehicle Hurley was driving was believed to be stolen from Summers County, the sheriff said. Authorities were awaiting verification before adding those charges, Aliff said.

Hurley allegedly hit the Wyoming County man, who was not identified, intentionally then fled the scene, according to the sheriff. He was caught a short time later in Indian Creek, Aliff said.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Aliff said.

Hurley remained in Southern Regional Jail Friday morning.
