BECKLEY — After pleading guilty to one count of forgery, a Beckley woman was ordered by Raleigh County Circuit Court Judge H.L. Kirkpatrick to serve two years probation.

Sarah Melody Branham, 37, was initially sentenced to serve one to 10 years for her crime, but Kirkpatrick suspended the sentence while she serves her probation.

She was most recently arrested Feb. 26, but was involved in another incident in May 2009.

According to Beckley Police, Branham and Terri Hughes, 35, of Mount Hope, stole a woman’s purse, and used one of her checks to buy a $900 computer, which was then traded for cocaine and cash.

Branham was charged with forgery and uttering and Hughes was charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.
