Tickets are now on sale for the ninth annual Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Black Diamond Lodge banquet scheduled for April 19.

This year’s event will recognize eight Raleigh County officers for their distinguished service — one of whom will be named Officer of the Year — while U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va., will serve as guest speaker.

All proceeds from the banquet will be donated to Crime Stoppers, which Lt. Paul Blume, with the West Virginia Southern Regional Highway Safety Program, says is a valuable tool for law enforcement officers in Raleigh and surrounding counties.

The banquet will be at the Beckley Moose Lodge and begins with buffet dinner at 6 p.m., immediately followed by the awards program. Officers from the West Virginia State Police, West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, Beckley Police Department, Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department and Raleigh County Juvenile Probation Department will be recognized for their service, Blume said.

“The FOP feels it is important to recognize outstanding officers and for the public to show its support,” Blume commented. “The FOP is proud to partner with Crime Stoppers.”

Tickets are $10 each and advance purchase is preferred. Tickets may be bought from any Crime Stoppers member, Connie Mills at the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Tax Office or by calling Crime Stoppers at 304-255-Stop or Sue Fazio at 304-252-5303.
