2 injured in Nicholas County shootings

— Two people were injured in separate gun-related events Wednesday in Nicholas County, according to press releases from the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Office.

In one incident, a woman left her house in Mount Lookout to check out a noise she heard outside.

Katie M. Brant, 20, was carrying a loaded .22-caliber revolver, the release says. Brant says she was standing on her front porch when a hooded, masked man grabbed her from behind. The two struggled for the gun and the unknown man shot Brant in the left leg before fleeing, police reported. The case is still under investigation.

In a separate case, two brothers caused a disturbance and one brother was shot.

Danny Ray Rose, 41, of Summersville, allegedly shot his brother, Michael Rose, in the upper stomach with a Taurus .380-caliber pistol, according to the release.

Michael Rose was airlifted to Charleston Area Medical Center. Danny Rose was arrested, charged with malicious wounding and taken to Central Regional Jail. This event is
