BECKLEY — The Humane Society of Raleigh County will host a fundraiser yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the shelter, 325 Grey Flats Road.

All proceeds from the yard sale will benefit the animals at the shelter and pay toward the medical bills at the local veterinary offices.

If people wish to donate items to the shelter to be sold at the yard sale, they may do so at the facility Saturday morning.

Receipts can be given for tax purposes; any donations to the shelter can be used as a tax write-off.

“There are some great items for sale at great prices,” said Teresa Staton-Cole, president of the board of directors. “As they say, ‘One person’s junk is another person’s treasure.’”

Adoption events will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at Tractor Supply, starting at 10 a.m. Aug. 22 at Walgreens on the corner of Neville Street and Robert C. Byrd Drive, and Aug. 31 at the MacArthur Walmart (time to be announced).

The shelter also still needs food, litter and donations. All donations can be sent to the attention of the Humane Society of Raleigh County Inc., 325 Grey Flats Road, P.O. Box 115, Beckley, WV 25801.
