For The Register-Herald
Students at New River Community and Technical College who have nearly completed their course work and would like to continue their education at a four-year institution will have the opportunity to talk with four-year college representatives during upcoming “Transfer Opportunity Days” on three of New River’s campuses.
New River has transfer agreements with many four-year colleges and universities throughout the state. These events provide time for the students and/or their parents to receive information on the transfer/application process, financial aid, scholarships, and housing availability.
Parents of high school students who are planning to attend New River beginning next summer or fall also are invited to attend so that they can discuss future opportunities for their students.
The special programs are scheduled for Nov. 26 in the commons area of the Nicholas County Campus in Summersville; Nov. 27 at the Greenbrier Valley Campus Student Activities Center in Lewisburg; and Nov. 28 in the lobby of the Beckley Campus in the Harper Industrial Park in Beckley. The hours are 9 a.m. to noon for each event.
Students on the Mercer County Campus and the Advanced Technology Center in Ghent are invited to participate at any of these scheduled events.
For more information, contact Peggy Epling, director of the center for advanced studies, at 304-929-5027 or via e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org. More information about the college and campus locations can be found at www.newriver.edu.
New River is currently accepting spring semester registrations from new students. Students who have not already applied for admission for the spring are strongly encouraged to do so as soon as possible, especially if they will be applying for financial aid, to avoid delays in receiving financial aid and books.
Spring semester classes will begin Jan. 14.
