A 20-year-old Glen Daniel man was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery Tuesday for allegedly robbing a Maxwell Hill home, Beckley police said.
Detective Sgt. David Allard said police nabbed Bradley Michael Smith as he was coming out the front door of the Lucas Drive residence at about 8:30 p.m.
Allard said Smith allegedly entered the home, brandishing what was later determined to be a BB gun, and ordered an 18-year-old male resident to wait in the bathroom while he stole various items, including prescription medicine, jewelry and electronics.
Police were notified of the robbery when a female resident arrived at the house.
Most of the stolen items were recovered from Smith’s car, where police also found marijuana packaged for delivery, Allard said.
Allard said the public should not be alarmed by the robbery, adding police believe it was an isolated incident since it is thought that Smith knew one of the residents.
“We feel it (the home) was selected because of the relationship with the defendant and the resident,” he said.
Smith, who was recently released from the Anthony Correctional Center for youthful offenders for a similar crime, is charged with first-degree robbery, daytime burglary and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
He was being held at Southern Regional Jail on $150,00 bond.
