Sadler honored with Family Dollar Manager of the Year

BECKLEY — One local manager received some shocking news not too long ago that sent her a clear message. That message was, “Keep up the good work” and came with the title of “Family Dollar Manager of the Year” for District 183.

“It came by surprise,” Sharon Sadler from the Mullens store said. “I think it’s because we have a really good store here and we have a good crew. I try to help my district manager in the areas that she needs me. I wasn’t expecting to win. I do my job as best as I can every day.”

Sadler says she’s been with Family Dollar since 1983 and helping other managers and employees is her favorite part of the job.

“I’m also a training manager to train other managers and assistant managers for this district as well,” she said. “I like to train people and to watch people grow and to see people become what they can become. If I can help them do that then I’ve done something that’s worthwhile.”

As with any awarded title, a lot of hard work went into Sadler’s win.

“I work about 12 hours a day sometimes,” she said. “That can happen up to two  to four days a week. I really just have to do whatever it takes. Sometimes you just don’t have enough payroll so you have to be dedicated enough to be here for that. That’s with all companies though. I’m sure it’s not just with ours.”

Now that Sadler has a title under her belt, she says she’s going to celebrate the best way she knows how.

“I’m just going to work as usual,” she said with a laugh. “I really enjoy working for Family Dollar and I really enjoy the people of this area a lot. I could work in Beckley, but I really love the people down here.

“I have a very good crew and I’m one of the fortunate ones in this day and time. They helped make me ‘Manager of the Year.’ Without them I wouldn’t be here.”
