Oceana man remains in jail after court hearing

By Mary Catherine Brooks
Wyoming County Bureau Chief

PINEVILLE — Lonnie Shrewsbury, 45, of Oceana, will remain in Southern Regional Jail on $50,000 bond following a Sept. 25 preliminary hearing in Wyoming County Magistrate Court, according to Prosecutor Micheal Cochrane.

Shrewsbury is charged with aggravated robbery in connection with the Sept. 13 robbery of the 7-Eleven in Maben, Cochrane said.

“My office takes the use of violence as a means to commit crimes, or as a lone act, very seriously,” Cochrane said. “While Mr. Shrewsbury is presumed innocent of the charge right now, for the safety of the community, my office opposed his request for reduction of bond.”
