Two residents receive probation in Raleigh court

BECKLEY — Two Raleigh County residents received probation for their crimes Wednesday in Raleigh County Circuit Court before Judge H.L. Kirkpatrick.

Shawn Wesley Lilly, 26, was sentenced to a correctional facility for one to three years for attempt to commit a felony (burglary), and an additional one to five years for conspiracy to commit a felony (burglary), to run concurrently.

Kirkpatrick suspended that sentence, however, while Lilly serves two years probation.

Pamela Ruth Crawford, 58, of Beckley, pleaded guilty in April to felony embezzlement and felony falsifying an account.

She was employed as an administrative assistant for local law firm File, Payne and File, from March 2007 to May 2010, where she had access to the checking accounts of companies that were the clients of the law firm.

Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Keller said the amounts set forth in the record were $23,990 for one batch of checks and $1,079 for a separate batch.

As part of her plea, she admitted the information was true.

Kirkpatrick sentenced her to a correctional facility for one to 10 years for embezzlement and one to 10 years for falsifying accounts, to run concurrently.

Her sentence was suspended while she serves three years probation.

She was also ordered to enroll in and complete a substance abuse rehabilitation program, as well as pay the costs of the prosecution and restitution to File, Payne and File or their insurance carrier.
