Democrat Jack “Gordie” Roop has filed for election to the House of Delegates 30th District.
Born and raised in Raleigh County, he resides with his wife Robin and two sons, Nicholas and Austin. Roop graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and Marshall University with a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree.
Roop is a local business owner and licensed insurance agent. He started Roop Insurance and Financial Services in 1991 and continues to run the business today.
Roop has always been actively involved in the community. He is president of the Raleigh County Farm Bureau, a member of the WV Hospital Finance Authority, a member of the WV Coalfields Expressway, a member of the Beckley Hunting and Fishing Club, and President of WV Wizards AAU Basketball Club. He has served as past president of Raleigh County Community Action, former member of Raleigh County Convention Center Board, and former member of Raleigh County Board of Education.
Roop is hoping to use his business and community experience to serve the people of Raleigh County.
