AARP lists locations for tax assistance

AARP Tax-Aide, the largest volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service began preparing tax returns and answering tax questions free of charge at two sites in the Beckley area Tuesday.

The site located at the United Methodist Temple - The Place, just off Robert C. Byrd Drive, will serve taxpayers Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon.  This site will be for “walk-ins.”

The second site, located at the Raleigh County Commission on Aging on S. Kanawha Street, will serve taxpayers Thursdays by appointment only. To have a return prepared at that location, call 304-255-1397 for an appointment.

A copy of last year’s tax return, a photo ID, plus Social Security cards for the taxpayer, the spouse and all dependents are required along will all relevant documents; such as, W-2, 1099’s for interest, dividends, retirement, etc.
