Family escapes trailer fire

There were no injuries in a Pemberton house fire early Friday morning, authorities said.

The fire occurred at 12:58 a.m. when a single-wide trailer caught fire, Joe Churning, firefighter with the Sophia City Fire Department, said. When firefighters arrived on scene, the trailer was “engulfed in flames” but the family had already made it out, he added.

The house was a total loss and the cause of the fire is unknown, Churning said.

The Coal City Volunteer, Sophia Area and Sophia City Fire Departments responded.
