Search for Summers County man continues; police arrest fugitive

West Virginia State Police are still searching for a Summers County man wanted for charges of larceny in both Maryland and West Virginia.

Donald Michael Cales, 31, fled from police officers Tuesday afternoon when they were attempting to serve a warrant at a home on Bal Noble Road. Cales is wanted for charges in Summers and Greenbrier counties, as well as in Maryland.

Sgt. T. L. Bragg with the Hinton detachment of the State Police said when officers were attempting to serve the warrant, they found Ronald Shockley, who was wanted as a fugitive from justice out of Delaware.

Police were not aware that Shockley, 31, was at the residence when they came to serve the warrant. His extradition order cites “failure to register as a sex offender.” He was arrested and is being held at Southern Regional Jail.

Bragg said police believe that Cales is still in the area and they are continuing the search for him.
