Woman killed by train identified by police

MONTGOMERY — The Montgomery Police Department has released the name of a woman who was struck and killed by a CSX train about 8:20 p.m. Friday in Fayette County.

Police said Sarah Townsend, 29, of Charleston, was dead at the scene.

It is unclear why the woman walked onto the tracks on Second Avenue.

Police said neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have been a factor in her death.
