Early morning Greenbrier County wreck sends three to hospital

An early morning two-vehicle collision near Harts Run in Greenbrier County sent three people to a local hospital Monday.

U.S. 60 was closed to traffic for approximately an hour and 15 minutes following the 8 a.m. accident, according to White Sulphur Springs Police Chief John Pauley.

Names of the people involved in the crash were not yet being released as of Monday afternoon because the traffic accident was still under investigation, according to Pauley, who is the investigating officer.

Pauley said it appears that a westbound 2000 Dodge Stratus crossed the highway’s center line and struck an oncoming eastbound 2004 BMW “pretty much head-on.”

The driver and a passenger in the Dodge and the driver of the BMW were all transported from the scene to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Pauley said, noting, “It appeared there were no serious injuries.”

The White Sulphur Springs Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad also responded to the accident, and Dave’s Wrecker Service helped to clear the roadway, Pauley said.
