The Greenbrier’s executive chef Richard Rosendale will appear on The Today Show Thursday to drum up support before competing against three other finalists for a chance to represent the United States in an international chef competition, announced Jeff Kmiec, president of The Greenbrier.
According to the press release, Rosen-dale, a Pennsylvania native, will prepare two of The Greenbrier’s classic dishes on The Today Show during the 9 to 10 a.m. segment Thursday.
He will then compete in the Bocuse d’Or USA Competition on Sunday at the Culinary Institute of America in New York.
As one of the finalists, he is in the running to be the chef selected to compete against other chefs from 24 countries in the Bocuse d’Or World Cuisine Contest in Lyon, France, in 2013.
In 2008, he won silver in the U.S. competition.
“It has been my dream for many years and I am very grateful to have this opportunity,” said Rosendale. “I also want to thank The Greenbrier and (CEO and owner) Mr. (Jim) Justice who have supported me here at the hotel in my efforts to become the United States candidate. It truly is a Chef’s dream.”
Chef Rosendale has studied in Italy, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland, France, Norway and throughout the United States.
He is a Certified Master Chef and the youngest ever member of the American Culinary Foundation Culinary Team USA and has represented the U.S. at the World Culinary Olympics in both 2004 and 2008.
