— Hinton Police Department will take a much-needed step into the 21st century with automated police and court records.

Hinton Police Chief Derek Snavely announced Thursday that the department has signed a contract with PTS Solutions Inc. to provide automated services and do away with its old paper-filled system.

“Looking up old reports, citations and suspects was a difficult process on the old paper system,” explained Snavely. “The new PTS Record Management system combined with Court has completely integrated all of our files. It allows us to have all our information at our fingertips and available to every officer at any time.”

The PTS Computer Aided Dispatch software has also been installed at the Summers County 911 Center.

This new system is expected to be fully operational in a few weeks.
