Slots are still available in Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) class being offered by New River Community and Technical College at the Advanced Technology Center in Ghent.
Classes begin Jan. 14 and will meet on Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 10 p.m. and on three Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Students who successfully complete the EMT-B class will receive five hours of college credit and are eligible to sit for the National Registry Certification (NBREMT) exam and the West Virginia EMT-B exam.
Students must complete the EMT-B class before enrolling in New River’s EMT-Paramedic program, which currently is offered in Lewisburg, Beckley and Princeton.
Applicants will be required to have a physical exam, current immunizations and drug and background screenings.
