Poker run aims to help aid cancer research

Burning Rock Outdoor Adventure Park, in partnership with the American Cancer Society, will host a July 20 poker run to raise funds for cancer research.

Immediately following the poker run will be an awards ceremony featuring cash prizes and a family cookout at the Burning Rock trailhead.

“We’re excited for the opportunity to partner with such meaningful community organizations, including the American Cancer Society,” said Katie Wright of Burning Rock.

“The American Cancer Society changes lives every day and we are dedicated to ensuring the positive change continues in southern West Virginia.”

“Since its beginning, 100 years ago the American Cancer Society has dedicated itself to saving lives and creating more birthdays by helping people stay well, helping them get well, by finding cures and by fighting back. By coming out and enjoying the day at Burning Rock, you can assist in furthering the mission of the American Cancer Society,” said Dawn Kahley, Community Manager of the American Cancer Society.

“We are grateful that Burning Rock has been very generous in allowing us to hold this event at their trails and hope we can do many more fun events at this venue.”
