A wreck and diesel fuel spill on the West Virginia Turnpike resulted in a traffic jam that lasted for almost two hours, according to authorities.
The wreck in Interstate 77’s northbound lanes was reported at 7:08 p.m., according to Turnpike Operations.
It was at the 71-mile marker, near the northbound lanes’ travel plaza and the Kanawha/Fayette county line.
Turnpike dispatchers said a tractor trailer lost diesel fuel, and it caused another wreck. Traffic that had not yet reached the scene was stopped.
Emergency crews put sand on the diesel fuel and did other site cleanup before traffic was released at 8:48 p.m., dispatchers said.
No serious injuries were reported.
