It's 'business as usual' at Beckley dealership

BECKLEY — Lewis Automotive’s Sarah Abrams says she is “surprised” by the news that American Suzuki Motor Corp. has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and will stop selling automobiles in the U.S. as part of a plan to restructure its business.

Beckley’s Suzuki dealership is under the Lewis umbrella, but Abrams said Tuesday it’s still “business as usual” at the lot.

Abrams said that although she hasn’t heard many details, she does know that Suzuki and her dealership will continue to sell cars, service its vehicles and honor warranties.

Rebates will also still be offered on Suzuki vehicles, she said.

Abrams added that a few Suzukis were sold Tuesday.

The Nissan portion of the business is not affected by the Suzuki bankruptcy, Abrams added.

The Associated Press reports that after American Suzuki Motor exits bankruptcy protection, the company will focus on selling Suzuki motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and marine outboard motors.
