Square dance on the stage at Carnegie Hall

An old-fashioned square dance will be held on the stage at Carnegie Hall June 19 from 7 p.m to 9 p.m. featuring the music of the Black Twig Pickers with caller Mike Costello. Carnegie celebrates its second anniversary of square dances. Admission is $5 at the door. Beginners are welcome.

Carnegie square dances are held in September, November, February, April and June of each year, featuring musicians and callers from around the region. Proud to be a part of the Mountain Music Trail, a collaborative project between five counties, promoting traditional music, dance and folkways of the Allegheny Mountain region, square dances are a part of Carnegie's efforts to preserve the musical heritage of the Appalachian Mountains.

The Mountain Music Trail is dedicated to providing opportunities for sharing cultural experiences that bring together visitors and residents alike. To learn more about similar events in your region, visit
