Johnathan Frazier, the CEO and recording artist of Beech St. Records in Welch, is the latest West Virginia-based artist to have a gospel album released nationally.
Under the performing name J. Fraze, his new album, “Brighter Dayz,” is available in retail stores and online Wednesday, through Infinity Music/Central South Distribution.
His sound has been described as positive gospel mixed with R&B.
According to a press release, J. Fraze, “has awakened a new generation in need of positive messages to help them deal with the trials and tests they are confronted with daily.”
“I want my fans to know that this is a great project that people from ages 8 to 80 can listen to and enjoy because there is something for everyone, from smooth R&B blends to straight hip-hop beats, to contemporary praise and worship,” said Frazier.
“Brighter Dayz” features an amazing list of guest artists and producers, like Grammy Award-winner Billy Beck (Ohio Players), Milliyon (Cajo Records), Humble Tip, Big Ran (Canton Jones), Krazy Figs (Akon), and Marley Marl (TLC, LL Cool J, KRS-One) to name a few.
Many across the state may remember Frazier for his work with the Generation Yes Choir, which was recognized as Regional Finalists in Verizon’s 2010 “How Sweet the Sound” competition.
The album’s first single, “Jehovah Jireh,” and its music video feature the Generation Yes Choir and will be hitting gospel radio stations and television soon.
The music video for “Jehovah Jireh” was filmed in part at New River Gorge National River and tells the testimony of the artist’s life, Frazier said.
“It’s about how I was selling drugs on the street and how God called me to walk away from that lifestyle and into His arms of love,” said Frazier.
The album will be available on iTunes, BestBuy.com, Walmart.com and in stores nationwide.
