A Fayette County grand jury has indicted an Oak Hill man on charges of kidnapping, first-degree robbery and burglary stemming from a March home invasion.
Oak Hill Police arrested Roger A. Hamilton with the aid of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department and its K-9 unit after responding to a March 22, 911 call of a burglary in progress.
When officers arrived about 10:30 p.m., they found two elderly female victims, one whose hands were still tied together, the release said.
The victims informed police that a white male had broken into the house, brandished a knife, then tied one of them up with plastic zip ties and escaped with a large amount of jewelry and small amount of cash, the release said.
One of the victims was able to escape to another part of the house where she called 911. When officers arrived, the victims indicated where the suspect had run, the release stated.
Police later obtained a search warrant for the Hamilton’s residence and found all the evidence involved in the incident. The Fayette County Evidence Center was able to match and process the evidence found at the suspect’s residence to the crime scene.
Hamilton remains lodged without bond in the Southern Regional Jail.
A complete list of those indicted follows. The prosecuting attorney’s office did not provide the individuals’ ages or addresses.
